De La Soul had last said that it was ending its relationship with Tommy Boy Records.

De La Soul had a public feud with Tommy Boy Records throughout last year over a negotiation deal over streaming royalties on the group’s back catalog. The feud seemed to come to an end in August when the group said it was ending its relationship with the record company. Now, Posdnuos has offered an update on where the group stands with Tommy Boy in a new interview.

Speaking with Creative Loafing: Tampa Bay, Posdnuos said that Tommy Boy has “sort of came back to the table” in regards to discussing a streaming deal that offers the group a fair cut of the profits.

“…we are looking to sort of get it going,” he said. “At the end of the day, of course, it’s money to be earned. We feel like we deserve [it], but for us it’s really about the fans.”

“At the end of the day, no one wants bad blood between each other, we just want it to be fair and to get the music out to the people,” he added, before speaking on if he thinks another Kickstarter campaign will help the group get its masters.

“No. Honestly, I don’t think so,” Posdnuos said. “Tommy Boy, they definitely want to own and understandably earn from the masters because they are part of the history.”

The group previously explained their “unfair” deal with Timmy Boy in February last year.
